United Ministries Responds to Coronavirus
United Ministries joins everyone in working to reduce the impact of coronavirus in our community. We remain committed to serving and empowering those who rely on us for assistance through these difficult times. Our community response will need to be significant and enduring.
In the short term, we encourage donations to support our efforts to provide a helping hand to those already experiencing homelessness or poverty in our community. United Ministries also serves those in our community who are working and striving for self-sufficiency for themselves and their families – people who are now losing hours, being laid off, and losing pay – and will now be counting on agencies like United Ministries to help bridge the gap until things return to normal. Monthly rent in Greenville averages about $1,000 – as we focus on helping individuals and families to remain housed and secure during this time, this may be a helpful number to remember. Donations to United Ministries can be made securely through our website by clicking here.
Social distancing and wearing a mask is paramount to reducing the impact of the virus. Therefore, anyone wishing to make a donation of staple food or hygiene items may do so at our administrative offices located at 606 Pendleton Street. Canned meats and fruit are most needed. Donations may be left at the loading dock at the rear of the facility anytime 8 am-Noon, Monday-Friday. Please include notation of the name, address, and phone number of the donor/s so that the gifts can be acknowledged. Also, please call 864-232-6463 once the donation has been made so that staff members will know to retrieve it. An alternative would be to check our Amazon Wishlists and ship items directly to our offices. (Just be sure to send us an email confirmation to firstname.lastname@example.org with your address because Amazon will otherwise protect your identify, and we’d love to be able to say thank you!)
Greenville is distinguished for the generosity and hospitality of its citizens. United Ministries encourages everyone to maintain high levels of compassion during these difficult days. Giving wisely ensures that your donations find their way quickly and efficiently to those who need them the most.
