Removing Barriers to Employment

Gaining and retaining employment at a livable wage is one of the most important things our program participants can do to achieve financial stability. To help our participants overcome specific hurdles, we provide one-on-one counseling and build relationships to identify how best to help and guide these individuals through our services or refer them to other area agencies that can help.

How It Works

Following a four-day employability skills class, counselors work one-on-one with participants to build relationships, reinforce employability and financial skills, provide job leads, help with resumes, and remove barriers that negatively impact employment, such as transportation, childcare, criminal background, and substance abuse issues.

Employment Readiness participants receive long-term one-on-one coaching to address all of the factors that have impacted employability. Coaching and coursework develops financial know-how, personal effectiveness, and job skills. We even continue to work with our participants after they are employed.
