To United Ministries:
“I would like to thank you all for the support given to myself and my girls during a difficult period. Life has its ups and downs, and there will always be trials, but some things can upset your entire world, especially when you haven’t prepared for such upsets. June 2017 I lost my job. Then two weeks later I lost my housing and didn’t have anyone to turn to for help. I contacted United Ministries, and our lives began to change immediately. We were put in the program and stayed at churches in the network. Everyone made us feel welcome, never less than and just made a difficult time a little more bearable.
I have regained employment and housing. In a year I will have the option to buy. Things are looking better than they were six months ago and will continue to improve as I implement the things I was taught. Thank you United Ministries for all the support. I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in without your help and support.”
Alicia came to us unemployed and homeless in July 2017, along with her girls, Jayla and Faith. Jayla is her eight year-old granddaughter who she has custody of and Faith is her 15 year-old daughter who is deaf and legally blind. Through integrated services, Alicia was able to complete the job readiness training in our Employment Readiness Program and obtain gainful employment. All the while, she and her family were sheltered through our Interfaith Hospitality Network. After four months of dedication and hard work, an opportunity for a rent-to-own property through our partner organization, Homes of Hope, became available. Alicia and her girls are in a home of their own this Christmas!
