Job Training and Matched Savings

Claire, who was recently divorced when she first came to United Ministries, is the mother of two children.  She and her children had just moved into a rental house, and Claire needed a new career. She had always been interested in the medical field and decided to pursue certified nursing assistant (CNA) training as a first step. United Ministries sponsored Claire for the training, helped Claire improve her employ-ability skills, and provided case management throughout Claire’s training and job search. Claire now works as a CNA at one of the nicest nursing homes in town, and she and her children are doing well. Claire also is investing in a matching savings account—offered by United Ministries in collaboration with Community Works Carolina—in an effort to build an emergency savings fund.
