Tony’s Story

Tony has been a long term participant of Place of Hope.  Throughout the years, United Ministries has worked to house him, but obstacles always arose that led Tony back to homelessness.  At times, Tony’s mental or physical health plagued him, other times Tony was too trusting and was taken advantage of, leading him to lose his housing.  In 2017, through Place of Hope casework, Tony was able to connect with Greenville Mental Health’s Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team.  On a daily basis, the ACT team worked with other homeless service providers to keep Tony safe and to guide him into permanent housing.  In January 2018, Tony moved into Reedy Place, a safe haven for individuals like him, where he can live the rest of his life.  Tony now has the support he needs to never become homeless again.

Thank you for your participation in the Transformation Walk and Run. Through your support, United Ministries continues to meet the needs of individuals like Tony right here in our community!
