My name is Megan Emmert, and I have been interning at United Ministries for about 5 weeks now.
Before starting, I was looking for a place where I could learn about the shadows of society, and be part of something that made a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Helping out here has completely exceeded my expectations. Everyone is super compassionate, warm, friendly, and kind. United Ministries contains 5 programs that offer several resources and opportunities to those who are struggling. So far, I have been helping out at the Place of Hope (POH), participated in staff meetings for Striving to Thrive (ST), observed several tutoring sessions for those working to get their GED, prepared food bags, and interviewed people who need utility/food assistance. I am excited to learn more about the resources offered, and to continue gaining knowledge about how I can help people who are in need.
