Giving at the Right Time

A temporary crisis can either be stabilized or allowed to develop into a catastrophe. Our crisis assistance programs can save a family from financial catastrophe with items most people take for granted: a grocery bag of food or a $50 prescription.

The mission of each crisis assistance service is to provide hopeful options, strong encouragement and a measure of stability to people finding themselves facing financial uncertainty.

Food & Medication

Our food pantry uses a client-choice model, allowing families to choose the food items that fit their family’s needs. Assistance with life-sustaining medication is available.

Emergency Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is offered to individuals and families with a demonstrated need due to crisis. Financial assistance is also given to participants in our education and employment programs to help maintain employment status.

Benefit Bank & VITA

The Benefit Bank and VITA are services provided by the United Way of Greenville County. The Benefit Bank identifies public benefits that a family may be eligible for (including SNAP, Medicaid/Medicare, Veterans’ Benefits, etc.) and helps them submit the necessary applications. VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) provides free tax return preparation for low-income families.
