Hi! My name is Glenda McKnight, and I am serving as an intern here at United Ministries. I am a Senior Social Work student at Limestone University where I will be graduating this December.
I believe that United Ministries is the perfect fit to complete my internship because I love the idea of helping individuals to reach self-sufficiency. A part of becoming a social worker is helping individuals, families, and the community while they cope with problems they encounter in their everyday lives. United Ministries is allowing me to get the full insight of what social work is all about from different points of view, working with both individuals and families.
While being a full-time student, I also work a full-time job as a Phlebotomist at Prisma Health. I have the pleasure of performing direct patient care to individuals every day. I love interacting and helping individuals, which is why I knew social work was the right field for me. I have experienced a lot as a child myself, and life has not always been a walk in the park for me. I did not have a clear understanding of the things that I encountered as a child, but I do now, and that knowledge has given me the passion to become a social worker. I am looking to gain work experience, and practice dealing with challenges and issues that I am likely to face on the job as a social worker.
